The Grade 8s leave Voyager and scatter across Honolulu, Hawaii, or even to the mainland after the school year ends; before they leave the home of Voyager they make tiles to represent their time at Voyager, what is popular at the moment, or what Voyager meant to them. These tiles are then shared during the graduation celebration and passed on to the underclassmen.
During academy specials times, students at Voyager Public Charter School took a trip around the world. Equipped with passports and a set itinerary classes traveled to different countries, cultures, activities and food stops. They could try an art activity, play games, speak different languages, eat snack, and learn about different parts of the world; all thanks to the help of our wonderful parents!
It has been very busy getting ready for the cultural Celebration coming on Friday, March 14th. Posts have been delayed, so that the big surprise of all the cultural artwork we have been creating across the classes can be revealed this week!
Here is a look at our helping with Students Rebuild, Typhoon Haiyan Challenge where we created art to help raise funds to support and rebuild after the typhoon that struck in the Philippines. For each of the drawings that Students Rebuild gathers, $1 will be donated to Save the Children from the Bezos Family Foundation to restore the schools and homes in the area of the Philippines affected by Typhoon Hayian.
We submitted over 250 drawings and we made their map of contributors!
If you want more information about Students Rebuild, check out their site.
Thank you for all the recyclables you have donated! They have been put to good use, come check out the Cultural Celebration on Friday March 14 10:3–3 to see what we have done with the supplies!
