Passing on their legacy

The Grade 8s leave Voyager and scatter across Honolulu, Hawaii, or even to the mainland after the school year ends; before they leave the home of Voyager they make tiles to represent their time at Voyager, what is popular at the moment, or what Voyager meant to them.  These tiles are then shared during the graduation celebration and passed on to the underclassmen.

Cultural Celebration

During academy specials times, students at Voyager Public Charter School took a trip around the world. Equipped with passports and a set itinerary  classes traveled to different countries, cultures, activities and food stops. They could try an art activity, play games, speak different languages, eat snack, and learn about different parts of the world; all thanks to the help of our wonderful parents!

So much happening at Voyager!

It has been very busy getting ready for the cultural Celebration coming on Friday, March 14th.  Posts have been delayed, so that the big surprise of all the cultural artwork we have been creating across the classes can be revealed this week!

Here is a look at our helping with Students Rebuild, Typhoon Haiyan Challenge where we created art to help raise funds to support and rebuild after the typhoon that struck in the Philippines.  For each of the drawings that Students Rebuild gathers, $1 will be donated to Save the Children from the Bezos Family Foundation to restore the schools and homes in the area of the Philippines affected by Typhoon Hayian.

We submitted over 250 drawings and we made their map of contributors!

Middle-Schoolers are playing with 3 Dimensions

In Unit 2 Middle School classes are experimenting with 3 Dimensions; creating sculptures.  Each class has a different material and are considering space, movement and repetition in their designs.

Mrs Don’s class is trying their hand bending wires.

Mr E’s class was given 75 toothpicks each.

Mr Gile’s class has toilet paper & paper towel tubes.

After drawing their plans on paper, they are going to construct their sculpture ideas.
